"THIS IS THE PEOPLES WAR,
WE ARE THE INSTRUMENTS"
- H.E. PRESIDENT YOWERI MUSEVENI

During the 1966-86 period, no African country suffered more than Uganda. According to numerous human rights organizations, it is likely that state-inspired violence claimed more than one million lives and destroyed the political, economic and social fabric of the society. In 1981, 27 Ugandans, led by Yoweri Museveni, took to the bush to fight for an end to this carnage and for the creation of a new, more stable Uganda. The story of Museveni's war, the peoples war, is one of the most important chapters of Africa's post-independence military history.

The Ugandan Bush War of the 80's provided more than the liberation of a subjugated nation, the National Resistance Army was a testament to the true spirit and power of the people.

Within a matter of months, those first dedicated 27 turned into hundreds and quickly into thousands of Ugandan's united in the fight for peace, freedom and economic stability.

In this same spirit, many of the original Veterans decided to give back to the people and the country that rallied beside them all those years ago, and thus the Veterans Co-operation & Sector Development foundation was formed.

With tireless dedication from veterans such as Capt. David Bashaija, many other key veterans and the support of the President, The Veterans Co-operation & Sector Development Foundation through fostering investment into the infrastructure of agriculture and industry, is leading the charge once again towards a brighter and more prosperous future for all Ugandan's.
